Germany, Offices in China, 1901, 5pf Green (25; Michel 16). Vertical pair with large "E" security overprint tied by "Weihsien, Deutsche Post 5/1 03" circular datestamp on printed "Schantung-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft" imprint cover to Tsingtao, Tsingtao (Jan. 6) arrival backstamp, cover with some minor edgewear VERY FINE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED COVER WITH THE "E" PRECANCEL OF THE SCHANTUNG RAILWAY COMPANY WHICH WAS A PRECURSOR TO THE PERFORATED EXAMPLES. These were overprinted privately by the Schantung Railway Company to prevent private use of their stocks of stamps. Signed Willmann.
