Germany, Used in China, 1889, 20pf Ultramarine (49; Michel V48d). Vertical pair, tied by "Shanghai 8/8 96" circular datestamp on cover to Fredericia, Denmark, cover originating from the Danish Lutheran Mission in Newchang with sender's information on top flap, sent from Chefoo with Chefoo, 1894, 1c Rose Red (10), tied by "Local Post Chefoo 31 Jul. 96" double-circle datestamp with additional strike on back, lightly struck transit and Fredericia (Sept. 13) arrival backstamps, cover with few vertical file folds of little concern and barely reduced at top FINE AND EXCEPTIONAL COVER ORIGINATING FROM THE DANISH MISSION IN NEWCHANG AND SENT PRIVATELY TO CHEFOO FOR ONWARDS FERRIAGE VIA THE GERMAN POST OFFICES IN SHANGHAI TO DENMARK. The Danish Lutheran Mission was focused in the areas around Manchuria. In 1896, they started the Northeastern Lutheran Church.
