German Tankard Engraved Glass, Decorative Lid 1970s
Traditional German beer tankard, engraved glass with a glass lid framed in the pewter holder. The engraved motif features a forest all around the mug; deer buck on one side and two does on the other. The deer on the glass lid is a molded glass relief. There is a mark inside pewter frame of the lid "Made in W-Germany." Such 'W. Germany' or 'West Germany' mark was applied from 1948 until German Unification in 1989. Those mugs were usually hand engraved and decorated in the small Bavarian workshops.
