The work, of great quality, introduces us to a context of absolute rural serenity, in which some characters spend their existences in an Arcadian nature, completely free of dangers or threats.

The painting is attributed to the pictorial circle of Giacinto Brandi (Rome, 1621 - Rome, 1691) . He trained in two important workshops, the first of Alessandro Algardi and the second of Giovanni Giacomo Sementi. In 1647, after having been in Naples, he returned to Rome and joined the Accademia dei Virtuosi del Pantheon. From 1651 he attended the Accademia San Luca. He painted in important baroque churches, frescoes of vaults, altarpieces, decorations and valuable fresco cycles, in particular we remember those of Palazzo Pamphilj and Piazza Navona.
