Gold Nugget Coloma, Coloma District, West Belt El Dorado Co. California, USA This classic Gold nugget has a substantial Quartz matrix with a metallic yellow surface area, a worn and smooth nature. The hefty example weighs a respectable 4.7 troy ounces in total and presents very nicely on both sides. From the historic Coloma District, where the California Gold Rush started in 1848, this specimen is a modern version of the material that changed the world some 170 years ago. This is a relatively bright yellowish nugget and wonderfully represents what miners were pursuing back in 1849. James Marshall (first reported finding Gold in Coloma) would be proud to have found this example of treasure as popular today as it was then. Overall Measurements: 2.07 x 1.54 x 0.63 inches (5.26 x 3.92 x 1.60 cm), weighs 147 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
