Gothic Silver-Gilt Fibula with Garnets
6th century AD. A silver-gilt bow brooch with D-shaped headplate, baluster knops and lateral bird heads all with inset garnet cabochons, deep bow with ribs, lozenge footplate with lateral bird-head lappets and cabochon eyes, central lozenge carnelian(?) surrounded by a band of tendrils, beast-head finial with scooped nostrils and cabochon eyes; pin-lugs to the reverse and catchplate below.
