Grossular var. Hessonite Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Les Sources RCM, Estrie, Québec, Canada "One of the best cabinet specimens of hessonite garnet from this locality. Gemmy hessonite garnets up to about .75 inches scattered on a background of smaller hessonite garnets. The specimen is a floater. It was a ridge or sliver of matrix that has been completely covered with grossular garnet. Bought from Roger Poisson, a miner at Asbestos in the in the [sic] open pit mine. The scale under the specimen is an inch with a rule at one cm." - Rock H. Currier This is another great Hessonite from the "lost" locality of the Jeffrey Mine. The mine isn't lost map-wise, you can easily locate it any number of ways. It's "lost" because it will never be worked again and might as well be lost in the traditional sense. What can you do about it? Nothing, except to pay attention to which mines in the future may also become, "lost." Or maybe get yourself a "lost" Grossular specimen: Now.
