HARRISON BIRD BROWN (ME/MA/UK, 1831-1915)
"White Island Light, Isles of Shoals", 1875, oil on canvas, signed lower right "HBB", in the original gilt matched corner aesthetic period frame, oblong with an oval opening, OS: 18" x 21", SS: 10 1/2" x 13 1/2". Good condition.Brown was born in Portland, Maine. He is known for his marine paintings and his views of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, most famously the Crawford Notch area. After showing at the National Academy from 1858-1875, he moved to London to live with his daughter, where he died. Provenance: From Private Collection, Harpswell, ME.
