fouldar side, approx. 90x90 cm. Label, reissued 1990s.
Vladimir Rybaltchenko (1939-202), who was the father of Dimitri Rybaltchenko, is known to have designed some of the most popular Hermès-scarves. Both father and son have been important to Hermès.

Vladimir's father came from Kiev and left Russia after the revolution. He trained as a bridge engineer and worked for Renault and Citroën in France. He had a beautiful singing voice, which caught the interest of the young French aristocrat Alice Ledoux. Alice, who was the youngest of four children, grew up in England. Her three brothers were distinguished in different ways. One brother translated classical works into French, another was an ambassador, and the most famous was Philippe, who worked as an artist for Hermès and designed many scarves. Alice and Vladimir married even though her father was against it, and they had three children: Boris, Vera, and Vladimir. Vladimir also became an artist, and like his uncle Philippe Ledoux, he worked for Hermès.Show more
