H.M. POPE TAKEDOWN BARREL FITTING THE STEVENS 44

Stevens 44 action, 7 o'clock extractor, 30" half octagon blued barrel with a decorative band of non-factory engraving around the muzzle, with front and rear sight dovetails fitted with sight blanks, Lyman style scope blocks with extra set of filled holes ahead of front telescope base. Hartford manufactured Pope barrel, No. 503, marked on the top barrel flat, "RIFLED BY H.M.POPE", additionally this Stevens barrel is marked with its original serial number "2462". Original Pope 8 land and groove left-hand twist rifling, caliber .28-30 Stevens, with an excellent bore. Fitted with its original Stevens standard grade American walnut 1-screw forend.
