Hallstatt Bronze Twisted Torc Necklace, ex Bonhams

Ancient Central Europe, Germany and Austria, Danube River Basin, Hallstatt culture, ca. 8th to 6th century BCE. A gorgeous bronze spiral torc (torq, torque) necklace of a tight spiral design curved into a circular form with hammer-flattened terminals curled into delicate tubular loops. This torc is of a generous size which would fit most necks, and the green and russet patina enveloping its surfaces further accentuate its attractive appeal. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5.6" Diameter on interior (14.2 cm); 6.5" H (16.5 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Davis collection, Houston, Texas, USA; ex-Bonhams, London, Knightsbridge Antiquities Auction (May 8, 2013, lot 264); ex-The Cyrus Collection. Property of Fay Safani, New York, USA, acquired in 1965
