Byobu ("wind wall") Meiji Era, Japanese three panel folding screens made from three joined panels, reddish wood frame with original engraved brass corners, newer substitute hinges, knobs, and hangings. Hand painted birds and flowers on silk on one side, and canvas covering on the back. The relatively small size [35" wide and 21.1/2" high] indicates a dresser top or wall decoration.
