Hand-painted Orthodox Byzantine icon. From the 19th century . Depicting Saint Nicholas. Entirely authentic with wax seal on the back. Aureola, crosses and book fitted wth gold leaf. Two elongated planks hammered in the wood (wedge-shaped slats to prevent the wood - on which the picture is painted - from warping) . This is quite unique, as these are normally found on the back of the panel. Condition as depicted. Dimensions 36 x 24 x 2. 5 cm. The item will be well-packaged and sent by registered mail.
