Hannibal Fagnola- Violin - Italy - 1909

A fine Italian labeled violin: Hannibal Fagnola fecit Taurini Domini anno 1909 Signed on the upper treble bout. Suitable for collectors and players alike tone is warm and supple carries over large orchestra, highly sought after maker. The top is a finely grained spruce top. Back is a two piece slab of maple with fine figure as are the back side neck and bold scroll. No open seams or cracks. And old repairs crack alongside the bass side parallel to the fingerboard but not impacted to the bass bar. Some seams re-glued over the years. The firings are a fine rosewood with accented golden plated brass newly strung with PI strings and a lovely French ‘SUPERIEUR DESPIAU’ 3 tree bridge of the highest quality spruce. Purfling is excellently done the fluting on the ‘f’ holes are masterfully cut. Corners are all original and no chips or extraneous ware. One slight scratch not a crack on the lower bass side. Appears to be cosmetic-superficial only. Overall a superb instrument for any collector or player.
