Official Medal, HST 1949-3, bronze, by Carl Paul Jennewein, Sc. (U.S. Mint). Obverse with a robust portrait of Truman to the left surrounded by 48 stars. The reverse features a preeminent figure of Liberty and a group of small figures behind, meant to suggest the aspirations of humanity for Freedom. The reverse is inscribed: HARRY S/ TRUMAN/ INAUGURATED PRESIDENT/ OF THE/ UNITED STATES/ JANUARY 20/ 1949. Tan-gold U.S. Mint patina shows dashes of discoloration as is so often seen.
