The Trocha figures in Cuban-American history. It was here that the committee on evacuation had its lodging during negotiations ending the Spanish-American war. Later, just prior to his removal to the palace, Governor Brooks ruled Cuba from quarters in Hotel Trocha. After his departure, his leading officers remained. The Trocha has, ever since, been the favorite hotel of army and nave personages visiting Cuba, as well as of foreign diplomats and visiting embassies.
