Heavy Chinese bronze socketed axe w/ wood remnants
A large and heavy Chinese bronze socketed axe with wood remnants, Shang - Zhou, c. 1100 - 800 BC, with wide rounded cutting edge and squarish base with ridge just above base. 3 1/4 x 2 5/8 in (8.3 x 6.7 cm). Heavy patination with remnants of the wooden shaft within the socket. Ex Boston private collection.
