Bedridden, disabled, but "alive", Matisse can no longer paint or practice techniques that require diluents (water or oil) . He then invented the technique of cut-out papers, which he could, in his bed, cut with scissors, papers which his assistants placed and glued in the places desired by the artist. Excellent condition
