First edition of a work on canon law by the rector of the University of Vienna, in a contemporary binding. Printed in a distinctive and handsome gothic type by Albrecht Kunne, this book also contains one of the earliest known examples of a printed manicule. Chancery quarto (200 x 133mm). 132 leaves. Red and blue initials, one woodcut initial (some light staining, gathering l bound out of order). Contemporary blindstamped pigskin over wooden boards, clasps, printed waste as pastedowns, with fragments of a 15th-century manuscript, likely a psalter, reinforcing the hinges (restored). Provenance: gift inscription dated 1577 to “Christoph Ki?melori” from “Doctor Joannis Telkl.”
