Heriz - Carpet - 335 cm - 247 cm

[ translate ]

This is a Heriz carpet: these carpets are made of high-quality wool, which makes them durable and very suitable for public spaces and dining rooms where they are more frequently subject to wear. These oriental carpets are hand-knotted in the north-east of Iran and often feature large geometric medallions at the centre. ** The Heriz carpet is regarded as one of the most beautiful simple carpets in the whole of Iran. Heriz rugs are a type of Persian rug. It is knotted in about thirty villages scattered to the east of Tabriz, including Heriz, Merivan, Georavan, Bakhshaih. These rugs are from the Tabriz rug family, but their unique production process sets them apart. The craftsmen weaving the carpets of Tabriz and Heriz use the same cardboard but with a different interpretation: those of Heriz, ignoring the art of knotting curved lines, modify the appearance of the arabesques drawn on the cardboard by weaving them with perpendicular, horizontal and oblique lines. From the same design two different carpets can therefore be created: a Tabriz and a Heriz. The carpet is in very good condition. The only wear and tear is the one in the photo.
