In April-October 1871, Holger Drachmann stayed in England. The following year, he exhibited three paintings related to the trip to England: “Tidlig morgen i kanalen” (Early morning in the canal); “Tåget formiddag Margate” (Misty morning Margate); and “Indsejlingen til Tynefloden” (The entrance to the river Tyne).
The River Tyne is a river in north-east England. It is formed by the North Tyne and South Tyne and on either side of the entrance from the North Sea are the North and South Shields.
