A complete edition of Dore's approx. two-hundred classic Bible illustrations gracing each page adjacent to chronologically ordered Bible passage with additional description of each momentous event. The most complete compilation with many rarities not published elsewhere. Each page of text with ornate decorative border and each adjacent illustration named. The Preface is a "A Little Journey to the Home of Gustave Dore," by Elbert Hubbard.

Embossed hard boards, faux leather [a little shelf wear], oversize 8" x 11", illustrated endpapers, ink written gift inscription to Marie Egner signed by May. E. Lockwood and dated June 30, 1940, on the half-title page; 445 pages, very good condition.
