Huge photo album - a soldier in the Jewish Brigade who fell in the War of Independence

An album with about 485 photographs of the Jewish Brigade soldier Gideon Crane from his time in the Brigade. In the main part of the album many photographs documenting his period of service in the brigade with the rank of sergeant in the years 1941-1945 - in this part which is the essence of the album there are about 310 photographs. The other photographs in the second part of the album document military activity in Israel in the early 1960s.

In the photos: the soldiers of the Hebrew Brigade next to the vehicles in operational activity, photos from various events held by the brigade soldiers with the Israeli flag waving in the background, the brigade's motorcyclist unit, social activities of the Hebrew soldiers, portraits of Hebrew soldiers, in preparation for immigration to Eretz israel on the background of Italian landscape, In shooting practice over sand dunes, In line alongside the military vehicles, and many more. In a large part of the photographs, Gideon Crane himself is seen next to his warrior friends.

Gideon Crane was born in Czechoslovakia in 1923. His parents and his entire family perished by the Nazis. In 1940 he immigrated to Eretz Israel as part of the "Youth Aliyah" and joined the Kinneret Group. During World War II he volunteered for the Allied armies, and served in the Jewish Brigade in Italy with the rank of sergeant. During the War of Independence, he enlisted in the IDF, and fell in battle by Kornov on Tuesday, February 1950, and was buried in the military cemetery in Nahalat Yitzhak.

Album: 34x30 cm. About 485 photographs in total. Photos in average size: 10x7 cm. Some are larger. The album pages and cover are loose - connected with Plastic clamps. Tears in the spine. The photos themselves are in very good condition. The album is in good - moderate condition.
