Standard contract US issue dated 1864 on top of barrel and side of lock. Lock has Providence Tool Co. Providence R. I stamp with US eagle. Standard two leaf rear sight with post front. Three band with metal rod and sling swivels with US marked butt plate. Previous owner has carved "G. Conan. 457. Reg Co. PV. " Stocks are excellent with usual impressions. All metal is a deep dark textured gray with sharp legends. The rifling is sharp and fairly clean. The hammer will not stay back and it needs a new hammer nut. Worthy of some research and study to determine whom this belonged to and where he fought. A
