IGBO, Nigeria. Statuary without arms, "ofo" sculptures play an essential role in the religious and spiritual life of the Igbo. They were the subject of a masterful exhibition conceived by the Accrosonge Gallery in Paris in 2002. Reproduced in the Ofo catalogue, Editions Rage under n°7. The truncated cone-shaped wooden body is encircled with wrought iron rings. The head has an iron blade on it.
