SILENUS WITH THE INFANT DIONYSUS

bronze, on an ebonised wood base with gilt bronze mounts
bronze: 23.5cm., 9¼in.
base: 10cm., 4in.

Condition Report:
Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with some wear and dirt and to the surface consistent with age, including dust throughout and minor greening in the crevices. There are a few small nicks, notably to the satyr's thighs. Minor surface abrasions, including at the back. There is some pinkish residue below the proper left arm and the terrasse at the back. There is a minor stable fissure at the boy's proper right arm. The bronze attaches to the base with a large metal screw.
A panel of the wood base at the front and another at the back are lost. One panel at the side has been reattached. There is some further general wear to the base.
