IWC - Portugieser - IW510206 - Men - 2011-present

[ translate ]

IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the 75 years of the famous Portugieser collection with a limited Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “75th Anniversary,” an homage to the original Portugieser offered in the early 40s. Unlike any prior anniversary edition this specific timepiece has been limited to 175 pieces and is long sold out. This timepiece employs the IWC caliber 59215, a hand wind (obviously) mechanical movement that offers a full eight days of reserve thanks to twin mainspring barrels. The movement dominates the view through the exhibition case back, proving an appropriate level of decoration to what should make for perfect evening wear. The Portugieser Hand-Wound is a vivid reminder that IWC is aware of its heritage. This watch is sized at 43 mm, that is just as the exact diameter of the original offered in 1939. The dial features a simple design, with just 3, 9, and 12 o'clock labelled in mid-century typeface and a two-tone colour scheme. A prominent chapter ring runs the outer edge, with hour and minute demarcations. The sub dial dominates the lower half of the dial, serving as home to the running seconds hand and the date aperture, that is considered as the most subtle date window in watch design. Definitely, the fully written out and just as the original, “International Watch Co. ” vintage brand label makes this timepiece a sought after collectors item. The Portugieser Hand-Wound in 18 kt rose gold with the silver-plated dial with gold detailing was built from just 175 pieces. The watch is accompanied by an International Warranty until 2026
