Antique Russian icon "Dormition of Mother of God" from the 19th century. Hand-painted with egg tempera colours on a wooden panel with chalk background. Relatively detailed painting. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and accomplished shading. The icon and the central saints have name inscriptions. The inscriptions are clearly legible. The icon is in good condition with typical age-related signs of wear in the form of scratches, paint flaking and bumps (see photos) . The painting has minimal authentic craquelure. Partial restorations are present. Levkas (deepening in the wood) are also present. Two transverse wooden laths are installed on the back. Heavy and solid wooden panel.
