Old Russian icon of the John Chrysostom. Early 19th century. Four selected saints on the borders: Saint Paraskevi of Iconium (also known as Paraskeva Pyatnitsa) , Holy Venerable Martyr Roman,Saint Anna, Saint Gregory the Wonderworker. The icon is painted in the place of the Guslitsa for Old Believers. The icon has been partially and pointwise restored. Dimensions: 35. 1 x 30. 2 x 3,0 cm. The photos were taken in daylight and are part of the description. John Chrysostom (347-407) , Archbishop of Constantinople, was a notable Christian preacher in Syria and Constantinople. He is famous for his eloquence in public speaking, his philanthropy, his denunciation of abuse of authority in the Church and in the Roman Empire, and for a Divine Liturgy attributed to him. After his death he was named Chrysostom, which comes from the Greek Χρυσόστομος, "golden-mouthed. "
