Window framed under gilt tipped slubbed silk mat, under glass, in gilt wood frame. The page is from "Al-Jathiya," Arabic for "Upon their Knees," the 45th surah of the Qur'an. This is th eonly verse that mentions sharia law. The page is written in three forms of Arabic script: Naskhi, Muhaqqaq and Thuluth. Northwestern Persia or Southwestern Ottoman Empire. Circa 1840. {Approximate dimensions: 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 image size. 5 5/8 x 7 1/2 sight. 10 1/2 x 13 framed.}. Condition: The colors are bright and vibrant. The page is very slightly puckered in the frame. Not examined out of frame.
