Important Korean 18th Cent. Landscape Painting Book by Seon Jeong 15"x10". Museum quality book containing (17) paintings by three different artists purchased in 1968/1969 from Samuel W. Lee & Co. antiquties dealer in Seoul, Korea. Comes with original correspondence of purchased for $500 and explanation of the paintings in the book. It includes ten landscape and river scene painting by master artist, Seon Jeong (1676-1759) aka Chung Sun or Gyum Jae. It has two paintings by Yun Duk Hee (1685-) aka Yun Ong of a man playing a Kumoonko instrument and men with cow. It has two painting by Sim Sa Chung (1707-1768) aka Hyun Jae (Hyonjae) of a river and fishing scene. Finally three calligraphy panels (two bi-fold) of a Chinese poem written by Kim Chung Hee (1786-1857) aka Chu Sa or Wan Dang executed at San Sa Am temple. The watercolor paintings measure 10.25"x8" and 12.5"x7" each. The calligraphy panels are 9.5"x8.75" and 9.75"x15" each. Blue silk covers show years of staining and edge wear. Overall excellent condition. Provenance: From the original collection of Yu Cha Hoo of Songdo (Koryo Dynasty), Korean historian and curio collector. He was the father in-law to Yi Chun who is nationally famous as one of the foremost patriots in Korean history. Collection of Dan Henderson (1921-2001) of Seattle, by descent. Henderson started the Asian Law Program at the University of Washington and much of his personal Asian arts collection resides in the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
