Important Montgomery True Blues Presentation Sword

Ames Model 1840 militia officers presentation sword, with stunning presentation "Capt. David Owen from the Montgomery True Blues". The Montgomery True Blues were first organized in Montgomery, Alabama in 1836 to help fight in Florida's Second Seminole War, David Owen was a private in this incarnation. Owen is next known to be the Captain of the True Blues in 1853 and stationed at Camp Owen at old Sawanogi Indian mound. Sword with gilt knight head pommel over mother of pearl grips, nice frosted etched 27.5" blade, well marked Ames Mfg. Co., Chicopee Mass. Gilt metal scabbard with silver presentation plaque, overall 38.25". Condition: Cracks to mother of pearl, minor age stains to lower third of blade, wear to gilt on scabbard.
