A rare Louis XIV inkstand in finely veined "Giallo Siena" marble in the form of a vividly carved scallop with scrolled edges and two recipients for glass or pewter inkwells. The underside is covered in white Carrara marble. This inkstand is rare because of its high quality, age and the choice of the Siena marble. France. Louis XIV era. Late 17th / early 18th century. Dimensions: L 18. 5cm ; W 15. 8cm ; H 3cm In very good condition, a few small nibbles around the edges, which don't detract from the visual beauty of this piece ! Note: the perspex stand is not included
