“Adoration of the Magi” (1580/1600)

The work, of excellent quality and mature pictorial execution, fits perfectly into the context of Emilian Mannerism, between the end of the sixteenth century and the beginning of the seventeenth century, with direct evidence that can place it in the modus pingendi of Scarsellino, Ippolito Scarsella, known as the Italian Scarsellino, (circle of) (Ferrara, 1550 or 1551 – Ferrara, 28 October 1620) .

The painting, an oil on canvas from the late 16th century, is superbly decorative, of good execution quality and characterised by a design with vigorous lines, with a marked play of light and shade.

The work is in good condition, the canvas is healthy, it has some retouching scattered on the surface and small losses of color in some points of the painting (see photo) - the frame is ancient and contemporary (late 16th century)
