Large and magnificent print with the image of the machine with which Clement XI had the pedestal and column of Antoninus Pius from 161 AD lifted in 1705. Column and pedestal were found at the Campus Martius in Rome. Campo Marzio. Domenico Fontana is the original author, Francesco Fontana made the drawing of the event, the Antwerp artist Arnold Van Westerhout was the etcher. Full title in cartouche on the bottom left: 'Scenographia Machinae qua Clemente XI Pont. Max. An. D. MDCCV Columna cum Stylobata Apotheoseos Imp. T. Aelii Antonini Pij Augusti eruta est e ruderibus Campi Martii', with impressum below that: '. Aeques Fran,cus Fontana inven. "I. P. delin. Arnoldus Van Westerhout. Antwerp. s. Fecit Ferd. Mag. Princ. Etruriae Sculptor Sculpsit' In excellent condition, page 55 x 117 cm. With wide sufficient, printed on two pages, on sturdy laid paper, vertical folds as issued, not coloured, verso blank.
