J. H. Collings. 'A Handbook to the Mineralogy of Cornwall and Devon'. First edition, rebacked, slight spotting to edge of textblock otherwise a near fine copy, Heard and Sons, Truro, 1871. Two letters loosely inserted; From A. B. Climas, The Botallack Mines Ltd, St Just December 27th 1910 to a Mr Thomas ‘’I do hope they will be able to put [in] the money this time as things here appear to be getting rather better. We got the 150 fathoms level dry yesterday (Botallack) and so far have not been driven back by water this winter. As you know we are only using a 250 G.P.M. pump this winter against a 500 G.P.M. last but we followed your original scheme during the summer of cleaning the adits. I should say last week there was between 600 and 700 gals of water per minute coming through the Botallack adits from …… and buzza sections and during September there was about 40 gals.’’ From a Mr Donne, St Ives Consolidated Mines Ltd, London 9th August 1911 to Mr William Thomas, Market Place, Camborne. ‘’We now have pleasure to enclose you our cheque for £10.0.0 in settlement of your fee for reporting on the water conditions at Giew mine.’’ (South Providence). With the bookplate of Kiloskehane Castle.
