Description: View from a good distance of the fortified town of Kirchain near Marburg on the River Ohm. The town church of St Michael rises in the centre left. Labelled above with the name of the town. The sheet is from the Topographia Germaniae (1642 - 1659) published by the engraver and publisher Matthäus Merian. In this work, Merian systematically summarised and supplemented the originals and drawings of city views, landscapes and maps that he had collected over decades.

Condition:Very good condition. With a minimal crease in the lower right corner of the sheet. Pale, barely perceptible stains in the upper part of the sheet.

Beschreibung: Blick aus gehöriger Entfernung auf die befestigte Stadt Kirchain bei Marburg am Fluss Ohm. Mittig links erhebt sich die Stadtkirche St. Michael. Oberhalb beschriftet mit dem Namen der Stadt. Das Blatt stammt aus der Topographia Germaniae (1642 - 1659) herausgegeben von dem Kupferstecher und Verleger Matthäus Merian. In diesem Werk hat Merian seine jahrzehntelang gesammelten Vorlagen und Zeichnungen von Stadtansichten, Landschaftsbildern und Karten systematisch zusammengefasst und ergänzt.

Zustand: Sehr guter Zustand. Mit einer minimalen Quetschfalte unten rechts an der Blattecke. Blasse kaum wahrnehmbare Flecken sind im oberen Teil des Blattes festzustellen.
