[ translate ]

Property from the Collection of Sir Michael Smurfit
JACK B. YEATS, R.H.A.
1871-1957
IN TÍR NA NÓG

signed l.l.: JACK B YEATS
oil on canvas
61 by 91.5cm., 24 by 36in.
Painted in 1936.

Condition Report:
The following condition report has been prepared by Hamish Dewar Ltd.

UNCONDITIONAL AND WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Structural Support

The canvas is unlined and is securely attached to what certainly appears to be the artist's
original, four member, keyed wooden stretcher. The stamp of the canvas manufacturer and a
faint inscription are visible on the reverse of the canvas.

Paint surface

The paint surface has a minimal varnish layer.
The paint surface displays scattered networks of slightly raised craquelure, most notably within
the sky in the upper right and including an area within the figure's face. These are
characteristic of Yeats' work and are stable at present.

Inspection under ultraviolet light shows a number of very small scattered spots and lines of
retouching including a few lines on the figure's hip, a cluster of tiny spots within the
background in the upper right quadrant, one very small spot in the sky in the upper right and
a few small spots at the centre of the right edge. Other tiny spots and lines of retouching are
also visible.

Summary

The painting would therefore appear to be in good condition.
