JAPANESE Type 95 Shin-gunto NCO Katana Sword
Japanese WWII era Type 95 sword. The sword has a cast aluminum tsuka (hilt) with a 8.5-9mm thick ornate brass tsuba (guard) with pebble finish. Fuchi has 3 marks: 1) company or corporate mark - Iijima, (2) arsenal inspection mark - Tokyo and (3) arsenal identification mark - Kokura also used for Tokyo. The serial number (136525) and a Tokyo First Arsenal stamp are clearly marked above the bohi (fuller) matching the scabbard serial number. Sword is secured in the scabbard by a top latch. End of habaki to tip of blade measures 26 5/16", 36 3/8" overall length. Machine made blade is in excellent condition with no pitting. The scabbard is free of dents but does have paint loss along with the hilt. See photos for more details on condition.
