[ translate ]

"Heaven's Breath II, Rapton Thermals" - Polymer paint and colour Pencil on Paper. John Coburn was an Australian abstract painter, teacher, tapestry designer and printmaker, born in Queensland in 1926

Adopting religious and spiritual themes in his pursuit of abstract art as his mode of expression has obliged Coburn to pursue a lonely course, apart and away from the mainstream of postwar Australian painters. He became one of the most iconic Australian abstraction artists of the Twentieth Century with his works celebrated in key galleries and museums, including the NERAM, New England Regional Art Museum and the Watters Gallery
