Heading:
Author:
Title: JOURNEY INTO FEAR No. 12
Place Published:
Publisher:Superior [Indicia: Superior Publishers Limited]
Date Published: March, 1953
Description:

CGC certified: Good+ (2.5). Cream to off-white pages. Cover detached. Stories and art by uncredited Iger Studio talent. Ruth Roche, editor. CGC Census: 18 graded copies. GPAnalysis: No recorded sales in this grade. A 3.0 copy sold for $243 in April 2021.

Includes the bizarre "Evil Intruder," in which a loathsome troll leaves his mountain hideaway in search of a woman to force his "abominable lust" upon. It's a twisted tale in which, as Greg Sadowski says in Four Color Fear, "only the innocent get killed."

"'Evil Intruder' shows just how far off the deep end Superior horror comics will go on occasion. The 'star' of this story is Trugg, a hideous ape-like monster.... He casts a 'mystic spell' upon Lucy, which makes her believe him to be her doctor husband, who the monster has already slain. The story gets even sicker from here! ...I don't even want to start trying to assess all the psychotic underpinnings of this unsavory story!" — George Suarez, Tales To Terrible To Tell #6. NEC: 1992, p. 36.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
