The Hamburg impressionist Julius Wohlers comes from Altona. He studied in Berlin and Copenhagen. A study trip to Paris brought him into contact with French Impressionism. Since 1892, he worked as a freelancer in Hamburg. In the summer months, he found many motifs in the Old Country. He was one of the founding members of the Hamburg Artists' Club from 1897. From 1926 until his retirement in 1931, he taught as a professor at the Hamburg State Art School. His works are now e.g. For example, at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, in the Altona Museum or in the Schleswig-Holstein State Museum at Gottorf Castle.Show more
