Inscription: signed lower right in the image

Date: c. 1750

Description: Chest piece in oval on a base with opulent wig, cloak, cape and white collar. Buddeus was a Lutheran theologian close to Pietism. Inscribed below on the plinth with the sitter's name and dates of life.

Person: Johann Franz Buddeus (1667 Anklam - 1729 Gotha)

was a German philosopher and Evangelical Lutheran theologian close to Pietism.

Condition: Good condition. The sheet has discoloured according to its age and is stained at the margins. With short tear at the sheet margin in the upper centre and in the centre of the right margin. The tip of the top corner of the sheet is bumped and the bottom right corner of the sheet bears creases. The sheet has been folded horizontally across the centre. The resulting crease is hardly noticeable in the image. The print makes a very good impression, appears fresh and velvety.
