Jaap Knip - Sculptuur op sokkel

[ translate ]

\Artist: Jaap Knip
Technique: Mixed media\Signature: Hand signed
Bird sculpture/spatial work, made of beach waste. Artist: Jaap Knip Leeuwarden, 1948. Education: Stadsacademie Maastricht. Techniques: Oil painting, gouache, graphic art, drawing, photo, spatial work. Landscapes represent an important part of my work. Started with a realistic depiction, there is now only a landscape form in abstract expressionist style. Many of these landscapes have the Northern region as a frame of reference, also called mudflats. The dynamics of both the landscape and the portrait, is my main motivation to paint or to give shape. Nowhere is the landscape as connected to water, land and air as in the Northern region. The apparent certainty of realism is locked in abstraction. The portrait has another dimension for me. The landscape is separate from any common ground with people. For me, the portrait is the reflection of society. The inseparable image of engagement, in whatever form. Abstraction and reality are very close to each other in the portrait. In addition, Jaap Knip also makes sculptures such as birds, fish, masks and wall sculptures from beach waste/plastics.
