Jalisco Bichrome Nude Female Figure, ex-Schmitt

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca-Etzatlan type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built, highly burnished, and semi-nude pottery female figure sitting with one leg folded beneath her other bent leg. She holds large hands in her lap while perky breasts emanate from her chest, and her head features puffy eyelids and parted lips that reveal incised teeth. Size: 4" W x 8.2" H (10.2 cm x 20.8 cm)

Provenance: ex-Marc Amiguet Schmitt estate, Amiguet's Ancient Art, Evansville, Indiana, USA, acquired prior to January 1, 2010
