Biography from the Archives of askART: Born in Baltimore, MD on Oct. 20, 1847. Desvarreux-Larpenteur studied in Paris at Ecole de Beaux Arts for about ten years. He was a resident of San Francisco in 1885-90. His painting forte was rural landscapes with cattle and sheep. Exhibited: Paris Salon, 1877-86, 1899-1914; California State Fair, 1888-89; Alaska-Yukon Expo (Seattle), 1909. Works held: University of Kentucky Art Museum; Minnesota Historical Society.
