Description:

Jasper Johns (American, b. 1930)

Untitled (Red, Yellow, Blue), 1991, edition of 38, published by Universal Limited Art Editions, West Islip, New York (https://www.ulae.com/artists/jasper-johns/0255-1991-untitled/). Numbered, signed, and dated "35/38 J. Johns 1991" in pencil l.r., publisher's dry stamp l.r. Etching and aquatint on Japan paper, plate size 34 x 72 1/2 in. (86.4 x 184.2 cm), framed.
Condition: Full sheet with deckled edges, minor crimps to some deckles, very pale foxing (visible almost exclusively in margins), floated within the frame, not examined out of frame.

Provenance: A private Massachusetts collection.

N.B. This triptych uses the same three plates that Johns created in 1978 for his Land's End of the same year. Over a period of fourteen years he reworked, reoriented, and recombined these plates to create a variety of prints.
Estimate $15,000-25,000

The work has a number of small fox marks visible in the margins and minor crimps to some deckles (see images) as previously mentioned. Given it's very large size of the sheet the work has not been removed from its frame, as it would require a large team working closely together to do so without risking damage to the work.
The frame is 49 1/4 x 84 1/2 x 2 3/4 in.
