Jerzy Mierzejewski (1917 - 2012), L' Amour, 1976.

Etching, paper 20 x 22 cm in light passe - partout size 32 x 36 cm; signed in pencil p.d.Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, 1937-39, in the studio of Prof. Mieczyslaw Kotarbinski. He received his diploma in 1956. In 1944-46 he participated in the organization and first exhibitions of the Association of Polish Artists, and in 1954-60 was president of the painting section of the Association in Warsaw. He was also associated with the Higher School of Theater and Film in Lodz, where he served as dean of the Department of Cinematography, the Department of Directing, as well as pro-rector. He was appointed associate professor in 1976 and full professor in 1990. He spent a long time abroad, exhibited a lot in the United States, Holland, Belgium, Germany, including the exhibition "The Selective Eye" at the Grown Tower Gallery in Los Angeles (1970), where works by Picasso, Chagall, Braque were exhibited alongside J. Mierzejewski's works. In the late 1980s, the artist returned to Poland permanently. In 1997 he was the winner of the J. Cybis Award. In 2004, the National Museum in Warsaw hosted a major exhibition of the Mierzejewski family - Jerzy, his brother, Andrzej, and their father, Jacek. In 2006, Jerzy Mierzejewski was awarded an Honorary Doctoris Causa degree from the Polish National Film School in Lodz.The frames shown in the visualizations are for reference only and do not constitute a commercial offer.
