Jian Ware Bottle-Shaped 'Leaf' Vase

Possibly Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279)

The compressed, spreading body is decorated with a leaf on each side just at the luting line and the tall tapering neck is below the wide mouth with a beaded rim. The vase is covered overall with an unctuous black glaze ending just above the unglazed foot rim which has burnt orange in the firing.
