Joaquin Torres-Garcia (Uruguayan, 1874-1949) attributed: Abstract City. Oil on canvas, marked "JTG 25" lower right. There are two labels on the back of the canvas. The first one attributes the painting to Joaquin Torres-Garcia. The attribution is from the Galleries of Associated American Artists 711 Fifth Avenue, New York99 N.Y. the second one reads, "ministerio de cultura."
Joaquin Torres Garcia was a Uruguayan painter who sought to synthesize the classical with the avant-garde. During his lifetime he exhibited widely and garnered international acclaim.

This painting has a fair amount of craquelure. A good fair amount of paint has rubbed off around the outside of the stretcher. There is a hole in the lower left corner. There is also a considerable amount of mildew on the back of the canvas.
